Big shout out to our 8u team for their first victory this past weekend, Saturday Sept. 21st!!
Let’s congratulate our 10U team for our first ever Pee Wee Victory Saturday Sept. 14th. 24-0
You are cordially invited to become a member of the Dixon Gridiron Club. This newly formed community endeavor is dedicated to helping our youth excel in the sport of football. Football, like other sports, teaches our children many things in life, such as teamwork, honesty, integrity and responsibility. For many years, our high school program has struggled to keep its head above water through season after season. The Dixon Gridiron Club is dedicated to putting an end to this struggle by addressing four basic areas that will ultimately turn around the football program at the high school level and create a sustained winning tradition where there is none. The Dixon Gridiron Club plans to address the following four basic areas of concern:
- Our biggest concern was the lack of a pee wee league within the Dixon community to teach younger children how to actually play football. As a result, our middle and high school programs have had a huge hurdle to overcome. In order to resolve this issue, the Dixon Gridiron Club has continued with the Coastal Carolina American Youth Football and is starting our second year of pee wee league football in the Dixon area. The age brackets will be 8U, 10Uand 12U like last year. New this year is the ankle biter division for 6U. You have to come out and see these little guys play!
- As our Dixon Youth Football Program improves, so will our Dixon High School Program improve. Our football players will enter high school more prepared, will already know basic football positions, and will be able to concentrate more on plays and various football strategies. At the high school level, the Dixon Gridiron Club plans to provide the football team every advantage possible. The club is already sending some boys to football camps, purchasing weight training equipment for the school, and working on practice equipment needs, such as blocking sleds, tackling dummies, new footballs and field improvements. We just bought our high school varsity guys new uniforms for the coming year. Our venture into 2A football will be exciting and our players will look the part of a well oiled football machine.
- In the end, the Dixon Gridiron Club plans to make Dixon football a sustained winning tradition. By building a community football program, the club plans to build a sense of community, where people gather on Friday nights in the fall to watch their children play football, win games, and develop pride in their schools and in themselves!
Again, we invite you to become part of the Dixon Gridiron Club family. Join us as a member. Come to our meetings and see what we are doing to create a brighter future for our children, our football program, and our community!
